Requirement:

We are seeking a dedicated and capable Research Assistant to join our interdisciplinary research team for a funded project based at Universiti Malaya. This project investigates the operational and whole-life carbon footprint of Mercu Alam Bina through a living lab approach, contributing directly to Universiti Malaya’s Net Zero aspirations.

Eligibility Criteria

• A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Sciences, Built Environment, or a related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

• Prior research experience is highly preferred, particularly in academic writing, publication, and data analysis.

• Familiarity with carbon footprint assessment tools or previous experience in carbon-related research is an advantage.

• Demonstrated proficiency in design software for both graphic and 3D simulation purposes (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.).

• Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and genuine interest in sustainability and carbon research.

• Ability to be physically present on campus (Universiti Malaya) at least 3 full working days per week (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM).

Allowance

• RM 2,500 per month (fixed) for a duration of 3 months, with potential adjustments based on qualifications and prior experience.

Year 2: To relate the polymerization process of biopolymer polycarbonate with its degree of polymerization, mechanical properties, yield, selectivity, crystallinity, solubility, melting points, glass transition points and viscoelasticity.

Year 3: To assess the toxicity, environmental degradability, photo degradability and thermal degradability of the developed biopolymer polycarbonate compared to conventional plastics, ensuring they provide a sustainable alternative.
