We would like to invite applicants for the research assistants/enumerators/spirometry enumerators for the RESPIRE project.
1) 4ccord projects (Estimating Chronic Respiratory Disease (Asthma and COPD) burden in adults in Asian low and middle-income countries: This is a cross-sectional community-based survey in Klang District, Malaysia including a questionnaire to detect the burden of respiratory symptoms and spirometry to measure lung function.
Employment status: Full time
Main responsibilities:
4ccord projects : You are expected to assist with and manage participant recruitment in Klang for the door-to-door questionnaire survey. You are also required to perform spirometry testing.
Other responsibilities
Administrative tasks like preparing agendas, coordinating research activities, organising meetings, and documenting meeting minutes are also part of the role.
Requirements:
1. Malaysian citizenship required
2. Medical graduates awaiting housemanship or Bachelor/master’s in science with a minimum CGPA of 3.0. Preference for health-related fields like biomedical science or nursing.
3. Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and oral).
4. Efficient and independent research task
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in Redcap, SPSS, NVIVO preferred
6. Previous research experience, preferably in qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Have experience in data collection/engaging with the public, patients, healthcare professionals & policy makers.
7. Pleasant personality, hardworking, reliable, confident, honest, and able to work independently and in a team.
8. Transportation is required and candidates must be willing to travel to Klang district for data collection: Travel reimbursement will be provided solely for data collection purposes
9. For spirometry enumerators - Experience in using and handling spirometry equipment is required
10. Enumerator payments will be based on the daily work log provided to the project (Average RM 1,500-RM 2,000) .

About the Project
The construction industry is a significant contributor to global carbon emissions, and there is an urgent need for advanced tools to monitor, predict, and reduce its environmental impact. This project aims to develop a Digital Twin framework powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable real-time carbon accounting and optimization in construction projects. By integrating AI, IoT, and data analytics, this framework will revolutionize how the construction industry tracks and mitigates its carbon footprint.
The research project is based in the Faculty of Built Environment.
About the Role
The aim of this role is to conduct research that facilitates the development of an AI-driven digital twin framework for carbon accounting. Research work includes:
• Conducting literature reviews on digital twins, AI applications, and carbon accounting in construction.
• Developing and implementing AI-based digital twin models for carbon emission prediction and optimization.
• Collaborating with industry partners to validate the framework in real-world scenarios.
• Assisting in writing research papers, reports, and grant proposals.
• Presenting findings to academic and industry stakeholders.
This is an exciting role with the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team alongside other GRAs. The wider team includes professors and senior lecturers in the Faculty of Built Environment and other faculties at Universiti Malaya. This project has collaborative links with our research partners at CIDB Malaysia and Petronas.
